Too many moms are finding that getting breastfeeding help that works, a lot harder than they thought or were told, it would be.
Without the correct support and advice, moms are developing problems that could easily be avoided and then feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the complex situation they find themselves in. This often leads to moms giving up on breastfeeding long before they would like to. Only a mom who has found themselves in this situation will know the true emotional pain that premature breastfeeding cessation causes.
This is such a pity. Breastfeeding really is quite straight forward. Provided your baby is positioned and attached well, your baby will get everything he or she needs and your breasts will feel great as they empty and refil. Your nipples will look and feel great too.
If your nipples are not outwardly cracked and bleeding, you may have a thrush or bacterial infection – again this is safely and easily treated, especially if caught early on and treat quickly and effectively!
Many complain about the conflicting advice and politics of breastfeeding. I have to confess that I have inwardly complained about this too, but am determined to make a positive impact on breastfeeding moms situation. So let’s look at what you need to change your milk and whether I can help you.
If you are thinking of giving up breastfeeding, just ask yourself what you need to continue breastfeeding?
- Would being pain free help? I can help you with that.
- Would having more milk help? I can help you with that.
- Would having more sleep help? I can help you with that.
- Would having a calmer baby help? I can help you with that.
You see, if you have the right advice, breastfeeding can and will be a rewarding and wonderful experience for you and your baby. Nature intended for breastfeeding to be pleasant for both of you. Don’t miss out on this because you are looking for help in the wrong places!
It doesn’t matter how many people you have seen, if you have not been properly assessed, no advice will help. Have a look at how you should be assessed
- You need to be treated as an individual – general advice is simply not relevant enough to always make a difference.
- Your labour and delivery needs to be taken into account – how has your baby’s head been compressed and how does this impact your breastfeeding.
- Your anatomy and your baby’s anatomy needs to be taken into account – what does your baby’s oral cavity look like, is your breast and nipple a good fit or are you likely to run into problems
- The pain that you are experiencing need to be qualified as different descriptions of pain indicate different problems. What can you feel, when do you feel it, how long does it last for?
You know that I don’t have an agenda with regards to your breastfeeding, I simply want you to do the best that you can and enjoy breastfeeding as much as possible. If you don’t enjoy breastfeeding, I will show ways to give your baby the best start in life in other ways.
You have got my number if you need me.
Much love,
Geraldine
