We look forward to long hot summer days and before you know it – we are pulling out the boxes of tissues and antihestamines to calm the effects of hey fever. What a let down!!
Breastfeeding moms will struggle to find anything that is compatible with breastfeeding, so they have to just grin and bear it!
I have come to realise something though, what I regarded as hey-fever, has actually turned out to be dust mite allergy. Really? Yes, really! And I have found a solution!
We are quite attached to our carpets in the UK. Whilst they are soft and comfortable – they are also a trap and breeding ground for dust mites! Everytime we walk across our carpets or sit on our sofa, fine dust particles are thrown into the air – which we then inhale. This is bad for us as adults, but what concerns me more, is that we are lying our babies on carpets for tummy time everyday! Their noses are practically on the carpet, so I can just imagine what they are inhaling!
Okay, so if you are like me, you have wooden floors throughout the house – but we still have a bed – which is yet another perfect breeding and contaminating ground for these little beasts! This was where I was coming into contact with the ‘dung’ everyday which left me depedent on inhalers and antihistamines.
Did you know that dust mites poo 17 times a day? It is not the dust mite itself that is harmful – it is their poo. Dust mite ‘dung’ has an enzyme in it which when inhaled, breaks down the mucus lining in our bronchioles, leaving the membranes exposed. This in turn leads to our broncioles becomming inflammed which restricts our airways. Our bodies produce histamine in response the invasion of harmful substance and results in a runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, wheezing – and over time – asthma and eczema!
Don’t get me wrong – it is not because you are not vacuuming and cleaning your house – more to the point – it is especially because you are vacuuming that we have this problem!
You see, vacuums blow out fine dust particles into the air each time we turn them on – that is the smell you get when you have been hoovering for a while – and in my house – that smell was never pleasant! These fine particle then settle as dust around the house or remains in the air for a while, which we then inhale.
Now, I have found the solution – actually I found it 17 years ago when I was still in South Africa. This amazing product has come to the UK and London and as I am experiencing the benefits myself in my own home – I am endorsing it and want everybody with a baby to see it!
If you are interested in making allergies, blocked stuffy noses, chest infections a thing of the past and improving your family’s health, email me at mail@letsbreastfeed.com with your address and one of my team will be in touch with you to set up an appointment!
You may not think it is for you – but if you have a baby, have allergies, have pets in the home – I would strongly recommend that you at least see what I am talking about!
Happy feeding!
