How should I position my baby when breastfeeding?

26th May 2009

Knowing where to start when trying to get breastfeeding right, is trickier than many would give credit for…but if you don’t get the first step right, the second and third will naturally be wrong too!

No matter how hard you try, you simply won’t be able to achieve that PAIN FREE breastfeed, so let’s look at how to position your baby and get that right first!

Your breast is different to your best friend or sister or any other women for that matter, so when you position your baby, you need to ensure that you take that into account.

When your baby is positioned well at the breast, you will see that his or her nose is in line with your nipple…

Quick Tip: it is important that your baby’s back is straight when you are positioning baby so that his or her chin is protruding and will touch the breast first when latching.

You will see Chapter 1 of the Positioning & Attachment Bonus (comes with all eBooks) is dedicated to helping you get this right, regardless of how big or small your breasts are…in this case SIZE MATTERS! :)

Some moms are going to find that feeding in the underarm or rugby ball position is most comfortable, as baby is better able to come in line with the nipple – but this is something the size of your breast will determine.

No matter how big or small your breast, there is an easy, simple way to get your baby in the right place for feeds. I want to help you find that, so that you can enjoy natural high breastfeeding provides you and your baby!

Happy feeding,

Geraldine x
