Far too many moms feel overwhelmed and frustrated by breastfeeding problems, which results in them giving up on breastfeeding long before they want to!
We all need to stop breastfeeding at some point, but my advice to all breastfeeding moms is: ‘Give up on a good day!’ Giving up on a bad day will only lead to years filled with regret.
You may wonder why would moms give up before they want to. The answer is simple. They have lost confidence, confidence in their body’s ability to produce enough milk or confidence in their ability to master the skill of breastfeeding, or confidence that their baby actually wants to breastfeed at all.
The key thought here is that they have ‘LOST CONFIDENCE!’
Now, I won’t show this to my clients during the consult, but when I visit a mom who has lost all confidence, it really breaks my heart! (especially when she is crying)
I can see the she is being tormented by so many questions:
I know that she is so desperate to breastfeed!
Whilst I feel heart sore for her at the start of the consult, I know that I can turn things around for her and that is exactly what I do!
When I leave, I can see that she is feeling ‘Ten Foot Tall and Bullet Proof!’ and that is what drives and inspires me. I just love my job!!
I haven’t advertised for 5 years as the word of mouth referral keep me busy, so if a struggling mom doesn’t know somebody who knows about me, or if she doesn’t accidentally stumble across my website, the chances of me being able to help her are non existent!
The main reason for me creating these online guides was to satisfy an international demand.
Many of my clients would move back to their home countries after having their first baby and then find that they couldn’t access the same degree of practical guidance.
They would then phone me in a panic, desperate for me to teach them how to know that they were getting the attachment right, or how to be sure that their baby was getting milk. This was difficult to do over the phone, as I enjoy using visual guides to explain techniques.
What they needed was CONFIDENCE that they were doing okay or CONFIDENCE to know that they were doing the best that they could!
I REALLY want to help as many moms as I can, which is why I get up at crazy hours of the day — BEFORE WORK — to learn how to draw simple diagrams to explain things, or why I don’t take annual leave, or why I work over Christmas and New Year, knowing that this is probably THE most traumatic time of year to have a baby!
My friends think I am crazy trying to help moms all over the world, but I think it is necessary!
So, before you consider giving up on breastfeeding, ask yourself whether
or
If it is the first reason, call me, email me, come and see me and I will sort you out!
