As you all know, I don’t apply or tolerate band aid therapy! I want to get to the root of your problem, explain it, eliminate it and teach you how to recognize and manage it to minimize damage, should it recur later in your breastfeeding season!
I firmly believe that there is a root to every breastfeeding problem, regardless of how complicated your breastfeeding problems are by the time you seek help. (The sooner you get help the less complicated your problems will be!)
I know I have mentioned this before, but it is always important to go back to the beginning and try to work out what changed, or what you did differently just before you started experiencing problems.
Did you feed in a different chair before you developed sore nipples, were you out shopping and missed or delayed a feed just before you developed mastitis? Could your breastfeeding problems have started during labor and delivery, before you even started breastfeeding?
When you find the answer, go and have a look at what you missed. Did baby’s position at the breast change when you sat in a new chair, did your breasts become inflamed having missed a feed which resulted in poor drainage at the following feed which lead to further engorgement/mastitis?
Make sure you don’t make the same mistake again.
Get help to manage your current symptoms, so that you get back to neutral and can enjoy breastfeeding again, without fear!
I can’t give you a direct answer to your individual questions immediately without taking a history, assessing a feed and taking your anatomy into consideration, but I can give you the tools you need to assess these things on your own – through my programs.
You have my number if you need help, call me!
Happy feeding,
Geraldine
